Middle and higher management don't seem to have an understanding of Intellectual disability, non verbal, challenging behaviours, self harm, sensitive to noise, lights, touch, destructive, self mutilation and the list goes on. NDIS employees and management and all people in society can see physical disability and can address physical disability and the needs they require to be independant and be part of society. But when the disability is confronting and there are OHS issues for others there is no understanding by the NDIS. These people with a disability are left with no life, just an existence within their four walls with only a parent to care for them.
Isolation, risk and harm to ones health and wellbeing. Risk and harm to family members and their health and wellbeing. Financially, ostracised from society, family and community.
A clearer understanding by NDIS management of people with these disabilities. Its not just physical. The NDIS are not able to comprehend those people with EXTREME disabilities that are non verbal and have no VOICE. Listen, look live what we do.
The NDIS recognises the funding, however they do not recognise how best it should be spent in supporting the person. The process is way too slow.
I believe the NDIS really needs to start addressing the needs of the most complex and severe people with a disability. Middle and higher management need more in sight into these people. They have no idea.
