What are your three main problems or concerns with the NDIS?

1. Ongoing justification
2. Supports that are allowed but not funded (eg: transport, capital cost, establishment fees)
3. Cost of reporting, and plan management low fees and their expectations

How do these three main problems affect you and/or others?

My son was born with a disability and he just wants to enjoy life inclusively and not having to do assessments ongoing.

Fundings get exhausted due to other costs that are not funded and participants need to give up other supports to be able to fund things like transport.

As a working full time mum and in the industry, the administration for Plan management and support coordination Is minimal and everyone is constantly putting more responsibility on them with no guidelines, training from NDIA

What do you think are possible solutions to those problems?

To have participants where there needs won’t change to be marked (eg: PWD that does not want CB Daily, and just wants to be supported to live independently as possible with daily supports and community access. No speech therapy)

Make the rates across the board to be averaged out, (eg: a speech at home service cost $397 which most of it was travel - Doctors don’t receive this much per hour)

Decrease the administrative overheads and audit costs …
Plan management needs audits but at an average cost of $7000, the small businesses who give person centered services struggle.

What parts of the NDIS are working well for you?

Having supports for my son who missed out on all the early intervention as a minor and now as an adult his needs are still compromised.

Is there anything else that you would like to tell the NDIS Review?

The he scheme needs to be sustainable so cut out all the provider extras.

Non registered providers should have a lesser rate that is capped as they don’t have audit costs.

Clients at made to sign service agreements due to audit requirements and they are beyond a PWD or their nominee to comprehend and then to be heals accountable.
