How can we empower you through the planning process?

Educating professional healthcare practitioners for providing comprehensive reports or letters while applying for the scheme

What is the best way to provide supports for those not in the NDIS?

Mainstream and community supports need to do more. Currently they are pushing everyone to get support from ndis. Or once they know someone is on ndis they advise participants to talk to their LAC

How you would define reasonable and necessary?

Very vague terminology. Need to use something different. What’s reasonable for one might not not be reasonable in other persons eyes.

What is the best way to support children with disability… and those with emerging developmental concerns?

Assessor’s (psychologist) are assessing everyone with ASD. Even a child having minor behaviour issues like addiction to iPad and not being social is assessed as having ASD which is ridiculous. No surprise there are lot of children accessing the scheme.

ASD assessment should be once a child turns 9. Majority of the ASD assessment is completed with the child rep. The assessment must not be based mainly on what information the parents provide. Parental information should have a only small weightage on the outcome

How should outcomes and performance be measured and shared?

Providers like speech, OT need to make realistic recommendations on their reports.

I’ve heard providers asking participants what do they want to be written in terms of recommendations. There needs to be more regulation

How should the safeguarding system be improved for a better NDIS?

Participants should not be given access to all the funding at one go. This is resulting in the plan being overspent and not being spent for the right supports.

Plan funding should be available in instalments either monthly or quarterly prorated
