How can we empower you through the planning process?

Funding is a pot luck.
It would help if there was a funding “menu” so everyone knew what to expect. Like the transport funding but for all the other areas. I’m sure the planners have it.

What is the best way to provide supports for those not in the NDIS?

You need to explicitly state the rules about using NDIS and health insurance/Medicare to fund services.
Often the best outcome would be achieve if a patient could use a health insurance rebate on a service and the remaining amount on NDIS. There is a lot of crossover for people who have private health extra cover and that goes to waste.

How you would define reasonable and necessary?

Please explicitly state what is not allowed instead of tiptoeing around it. Have much clearer guidelines and even a process for planners to enquire. There is no consistency amongst planners either indicating they do not have clear guidelines either.

What is the best way to support children with disability… and those with emerging developmental concerns?

Defunding Educational support staff in schools is going to continue driving up childhood applications to the NDIS

How can the market be better designed, structured and supported?

Many many services still have special NDIS pricing - a higher price for the same service if you are an NDIS client.
If this is illegal you need to make this a lot clearer.

How should outcomes and performance be measured and shared?

Plan managed people get ripped off big time. Simplify the billing for them and remove the billing codes that get abused.

How would you build better outcomes or goals into your plan?

I have enough funding in this category but there is almost no information about how I can use it so I am hesitant to do so. It is very unclear what is claimable here. Please provide a lot more examples.

What does good service from someone helping you navigate the NDIS look like?

Being plan managed us a nightmare. The system is abused horrendously. NDIS companies charge for service items because they are there. Providers charge $50 for a one word email because they can. Providers routinely demand for a copy of a participant’s plan then propose a treatment plan that uses all the finding. Providers for plan managed clients should have to provide a quote. Instead they get a plan and just milk it.

How should housing and living options be improved to build a good life?

Many many people will never be able to afford a home and will be permanently renting.
Renters have almost no access to assistance from NDIS for housing modifications, or they are capped at 1 per lifetime. Housing modifications funded by the NDIS are a luxury reserved for home owners.

How should the safeguarding system be improved for a better NDIS?

Ban all plan managing companies

Everyone is terrified of their yearly review, even if it just a rollover. A little certainty would go a long way
